The Marans, French Poule de Marans, is a French breed of dual-purpose chicken, reared both for meat and for its brown eggs. It originated in or near the port town of Marans, in the department of Charente-Maritime, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of south-western France. Marans appreciate higher protein feeds especially when nearing lay.
An ideal selection for someone looking to try a variety of Marans, add dark eggs to the basket and rainbow egg projects. For Marans breeding purposes, we recommend the pure colour dozens.

Black or Blue Copper Marans
Birchen Marans
Blue Cuckoo Marans
Blue Gold Cuckoo Marans
Potential for project colours like Columbian, Salmon, etc.
Egg colour varies throughout the season, roosters are tested and selected to improve egg colour.
Technical Information:
Incubation at 37.8C 30-35% humidity. Please note, Marans and Olives prefer this lower humidity and dislike extreme humidity fluctuations.
